53 days left! We spent tonight booking the rest of our stays throughout our trip along Route 66. This let us confirm our schedule and now all's that's left is figuring out what we'd like to do in between stops! Our places are as follows:
Thursday night - stay at the Skyview Plaza at the Philly Airport
Friday night - Santa Fe Skies RV Park just outside the city proper of Santa Fe
Saturday night - Gallup - USA RV Park before we head to:
The Grand Canyon! - Sunday and Monday - Xanterra Grand Canyon Trailer Village
Tuesday - Lake Havasu City, AZ - Campbell Cove RV Park
Wednesday - Staying out under the stars (and the roof of our RV!) in the Mojave Narrows Regional Park on our first night in California
Thursday - Malibu Beach RV Park along the beach (probably one of our most scenic stops along the way)
Friday - Back to civilization at the Embassy Suites South at LAX before heading back east
Of course we all have vacation on the brain and I'm super excited for us all to chat about the activities along the way. Until then, just hoping for smooth sailing until we leave and preparing for the trip with camera purchases and perhaps some new clothes along the way! Countdown!
It's just over 70 days until we begin our trip!
We've planned about 3-4 stays so far (not including our hotel stay in Philadelphia on Thursday night) at RV Parks in New Mexico, Arizona, and California. We still have a few stay details remaining, but through trial and error, we will make our plans! It can be rather daunting to compare and plan to stay in some towns with 15+ RV Parks, and then in places like Needles, CA who only have a handful. Heat and electricity is the biggest worry since shelter is what we're traveling in everyday.
As of right now, the (unconfirmed) itinerary is:
Fly to Albuquerque, NM and stay in Santa Fe
Travel to/stay in Petrified Forest area (AZ)
Travel to/stay in Grand Canyon Nat'l Park (2 nights)
Travel through AZ to Needles, CA
Travel through Eastern CA/San Bernardino County
Travel to Santa Monica/Malibu
Stay over at LAX and fly home to Philadelphia
